대~한민국!! clap clap clap crap!
We won!!!!!
There aren’t many things that truly make my husband excited and deeply happy. He’s a pretty happy guy in general, but not THAT easily excited. Except soccer. Korea is nuts about soccer, as a whole. They love a chance to show national pride, so now that the World Cup has started, and Korea has qualified to play, they are going CRAZY!
Yesterday was the first game for Korea, playing Greece. We were thinking about where we should watch the game. In Seoul, there were 42 official places to watch the game, and and it was estimated that 7-10 million people would be at those official places to watch. And these are just the official ones! In our little area alone, we heard about out door events at parks, churches, grocery store parking lots, house parties, and city hall. We’re not even in Seoul, and those are just places we heard about in passing, not searching.
So, we had planned to go to City Hall. THey were estimating that 5000 people would be there. Instead, we decided to go to my husband’s church, where they set up a HUGE screen, the size of a building wall. On the ground were rows and rows of mats for us to sit on. We all showed up in our supporting red t-shirts, bandanas, scarves, etc. Our church served free beer and snacks! yahoo! I would say there were probably about 150 or so people gathered together to watch. Wow! Exciting! Just the energy of the people! I thought, considering all of the energy and “vibes” being sent to the Korean team, from the ENTIRE country, it would be strange if they lost the game. Anyway, I got stress, because I would get so excited, and then the goal would be a miss. BUT when they finally DID score, you could hear screams from EVERYwhere! Not only the people with us, but it was a collective scream that I’m sure could be heard throughout the entire country. Wouldn’t it be interesting if there were some kind of sound monitor, that we could see from space, that should the sound level of human voices in Korea, at the moment of the first and second goals?
Anyhow, it was such a fun time. After the game, we went back to my parents-in-law’s house to keep eating and drinking and watch the next game on TV. SupER fun ^^
PS Sometimes when my husband says “clap” he says “crap” by mistake. hehe.
